Story
Hello to my family and friends,
On the 6-7th of April 2024, I will be riding from Echuca to Port Fairy as part of Jimmy's Allsorts relay team. It is our mission is to raise as much money as we can for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Some of you may be aware of the profound impact cancer has had on our family. In 2018, we lost my Uncle Phil to this relentless disease. Uncle Phil was the most amazing human, a loving husband and father to his three girls. A great Pop to his grandkids and a Bulldogs supporter through and through. He helped shape me into the man i am today!
Despite his 14-year battle with cancer, he remained resilient and even participated in medical trials, contributing to vital research. He was one of the finest individuals I've ever known, and his loss has left a void in our lives that can never be filled.
I see this ride as an opportunity to honor Uncle Phil's memory by supporting the crucial work of the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute. Every dollar raised will contribute to ongoing research, bringing hope to countless families affected by cancer.
I invite you to join me in this meaningful cause by making a secure online donation. Your generosity will directly support the Institute's efforts to advance cancer research and ultimately save lives.
Please take a moment to visit the donation page and leave a message of support. Your words of encouragement mean the world to me and all those fighting this battle.
Thank you for your support. Together, let's make a difference in the fight against cancer and honor my Uncle Phil's memory in the most meaningful way possible.
Regards,
Brendan Chalmers
Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute
The Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Instituite is based in Ballarat and is Australia’s only regionally based cancer research centre. The research is focused on the role of the immune system, how it relates and can be used to treat cancer. It is hoped that by identifying these proteins on the surface of cancer cells, druggable targets can be developed to allow the immune system to attack the cancer, without chemotherapy and radiation. The research aims to help patients with a broad range of cancers – from Leukemia, Bowel, Ovarian, Breast, Brain and Pancreato-Biliary cancers, as well as haematological cancers.
Thank you for your support.
